Home Schooled Six-Year-Old Has Poem Published

Julia Westmoreland of Cypress submitted an original poem to the Young Poet’s Competition sponsored by The Christian Science Monitor. The paper is published internationally and the contest drew hundreds of entries. Five poems were selected for publication and Julia’s was one of them. Her poem was titled “Love Fruit” and was based on the fruits of the spirit found in the New Testament book of Galatians. Julia received a certificate in addition to having her poem published. The contest was open to all students through twelfth grade. Poems were judged on the basis of originality of topic or theme. Julia’s piece appeared in the January 22 edition of the Christian Science Monitor. Great work, Julia!
