Congratulations to Home Schooled National Merit Scholar Adam Springer!

Adam Springer of Huntsville, son of Phil and Melanie Springer, is a 2013 National Merit Scholar and college scholarship recipient! Adam will attend Texas A&M University in Fall 2013, majoring in civil engineering. He has been awarded multiple other scholarships from A&M as well. In addition, Adam also received a number of outside scholarships, including the 2013 Sonlight Scholarship, whose curriculum Melanie says they used for most of their 10 years of home schooling.

See links below for information about these scholarships. Both the National Merit and the Sonlight scholarship Adam received are four-year scholarships.

How to apply for these scholarships:

Receiving the National Merit Scholarship requires taking the PSAT as a junior in high school. Test takers with qualifying scores are notified they are Semi-Finalists in the fall of their senior year and are given opportunity to complete an extensive application online to compete for Finalist status. Finalists are notified several months later. Certain colleges and universities award the National Merit Scholarship to students who name that school as their first choice; Texas A&M is one of those colleges.

Sonlight Scholarship applicants must have purchased and used five of Sonlight’s Cores and must complete the scholarship application, which includes letters of recommendation, an essay, and a project.
