Texas Home School Brothers Soar High as Eagle Scouts

Roger (19), Raymond (16), and Russell (14) Thomas of Huffman each earned Scouting’s highest rank in 2012, the 100th anniversary of the Eagle Scout rank. They were honored in a joint Eagle Court of Honor ceremony on October 5, 2013.

Roger earned the rank of Eagle in April 2012, Raymond in July 2012, and Russell in December 2012. They are members of BSA Troop 56 in Atascocita,.

Each young Scout had to earn at least 21 merit badges (11 of which are Eagle required), plan and direct his Eagle Scout Project, log community service hours, and hold positions of leadership in their troop. Roger’s Eagle Scout Project was in wildfire mitigation, which benefited the Houston Arboretum. Raymond’s project was hygiene packs for the homeless, which he donated to Community of the Streets, a shelter in downtown Houston. Russell’s project involved re-forestation (planting 60 trees), which also benefited the Houston Arboretum.

Roger is currently a sophomore at Prairie View A&M University. Raymond is a home school senior, graduating in 2014. Russell is in 10th grade and is still a home schooler as well.

Congratulations to the Thomas boys on their incredible accomplishment!
