Thursday, April 23, the committee hearing for the Tim Tebow bill (SB 2046) in the Senate will be held. If passed, this bill would give home schoolers all across the state the opportunity, if they choose, to participate in UIL extracurricular activities. This would include various types of athletics, as well as band, speech and debate, and more.
Below we have included facts and links to the bill itself for further details.
Call to Support the Bill Today
Please take a moment to call the Senate Education Committee members (below), and kindly ask them to support SB 2046, and email the Senators who support the bill to thank them for their support.
The calls will likely be as simple as the staff asking for your name, zip code, and noting that you support the bill. Your call will make a difference!
Here are some reasons the Tim Tebow bill is good for home schoolers:
- It gives educational opportunities to rural home schoolers with no other extracurricular options.
- It provides options for home schoolers who cannot afford to pay for home school leagues.
