A Call to Leadership Education How does a child choose to get a great education? One of the elements of conveyor-belt schooling is that children's initiative is marginalized, even discouraged.
It seems that we are often impatient with
transition phases, whether it is a transition of leadership within
a group and the learning season that occurs when new leaders “try
the reins” or the transitions our children make from one stage of
childhood to another. Perhaps the transition from one style of
education to another as families adjust to home schooling for the
first time, is trying on our impatient hearts. Many times we
either long for the “good old days” or want to hurry the new
season along, but over the years there are many important things
I’ve learned about transition. Planning field trips does not have to be daunting. Spontaneous field trips can be wonderful, but they don’t often work well for groups. On the other hand, the purposeful planning of a field trip can make it extra-special, and for group field trips, planning is a must.
From appointing a temporary field trip coordinator to selecting a field trip committee and establishing guidelines that will get your group prepared to host fun and educational field trips, make lasting memories for your students and enhance their education, this informative article by Ruth Perez covers all the fundamentals.
Have You Ever Caught a Vision? Have you ever caught a vision? It is often similar to catching a summer cold: completely unexpected. Many people think the ability to plan ahead is visionary, but a vision is more than just having a fall schedule. Visionary leaders see their terms in leadership as finite, so their goal is to continually build and encourage those who follow. They purpose to build up and encourage their members and their leadership and are continually looking for those whose strengths will benefit the group and move it in the right direction. Visionary leaders see their job as twofold: to build vision within their group and to build character and vision within themselves and their leadership team.
