The THSC Customer Relations team serves families by supporting and encouraging them in their homeschool journey.

Office Team

The THSC Marketing Team strategically crafts the message that THSC presents to public. We create content that goes in our magazines, emails, advertisements, banners, and website. Hours are flexible and during regular business hours.

Office Team: Front Office Volunteer

Periodically throughout the year THSC has volunteer opportunities at our local office. Volunteers help with a variety of tasks to assist our staff when preparing for major events such as our State Convention. Volunteers also assist in stuffing envelopes and preparing large mailings, or they may assist our staff in making phone calls to members.

*Note: Office volunteers will be notified of volunteer opportunities one to two weeks in advance.

Volunteer responsibilities include:

  • Making phone calls
  • Preparing large mailings by stuffing envelopes, etc.
  • Packing supplies and preparing for events
  • Various other office duties

Qualifications:

  • Friendly and able to work well with others
  • Clear and friendly phone voice
  • Able to understand and follow directions

Leadership: Homeschool Mentor Opportunity

Do you have a heart that delights in helping, informing, and encouraging homeschool parents? Want to pass on what you’ve learned through the years and share knowledge with new homeschoolers? If so, THSC is the place for you!

THSC is looking for veteran homeschool moms and dads to fill mentor positions working from home to help answer questions about getting started with homeschooling sent in to THSC.

Responsibilities:
  • THSC offers multiple ways you can support local homeschool families. You can choose to volunteer to call families that reach out to THSC for general questions, host local meetings, or both!
    • Call families: Call prospective or current homeschool parents who contact THSC for general homeschool information to help them understand general homeschool questions
      • Willing to make a minimum of 2 calls per week
      • Return a short form after each call or event to enable THSC to further provide additional support to the parent
    • Host Homeschool Roundtable events for homeschool families: Host local meetings to answer questions for prospective or current homeschool parents that need guidance.
      • Pertaining to event promotion for mentors that choose to host local meetings, please know that THSC will help you promote your event, however, we have found that it is more important for you to be connected locally with homeschool groups, libraries, or social media pages that serve local homeschool families in order to have the best reach for promoting your event.
      • Your ability to reach out to local group leaders (we have a page to help you locate groups near you), share your information in local homeschool circles and/or on social media is more effective locally in reaching families.
  • Respond to questions in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner using agreed-upon procedures and responses
  • Focus attentively on the needs and concerns presented; demonstrate compassion and send a response in a timely manner

  • Copywriting Facebook ads
  • Copywriting social media posts
  • Strategizing social media campaigns
  • Brainstorming branding and messaging
  • Weekly marketing team meeting
  • 2-4 hours per week

Qualifications

  • Professionalism
  • Good written communication skills
  • Experience with Facebook and/or Twitter
  • Experience with Google Docs
  • Eye for design
  • Willingness to learn, be corrected, and work on a team
  • Previous marketing experience is a plus

Marketing: Volunteer Contributing Editor

Are you skilled at refining writing? Do you have a passion for our mission of supporting Texas homeschoolers? Consider joining our volunteer editing team as a Contributing Editor!

Responsibilities:

  • Substantively edit and proofread content for publication by THSC
  • Integrate THSC message and optimized keywords into writing when appropriate
  • Accept as little as one assignment a month or as much as two or three a week
  • Write within the THSC brand guidelines and styles
  • Coordinate workflow with the Lead Editor to meet publication deadlines
  • Meet monthly with the editing team to address workflow issues, editing priorities, and training

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to consistently meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with Associated Press style preferred (otherwise, must be willing to learn AP style)
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Fastidious attention to detail
  • Computer and Internet connection with proficiency in at least email, MS Word and Google Docs
  • Ability to fact check
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Experience with writing/editing and proofreading preferred
  • Educational qualification related to the field preferred
