Teen Staff Program
Real Leadership •
Real Responsibility • Real Fun
How does it work?
The
Teen Staff Program (TSP) is a mix of working essential Convention
jobs, attending entertaining and educational workshops, and
participating in fun activities. Teens will be placed on teams.
They will be encouraged to fellowship with their teammates and
build leadership and teamwork skills throughout the Convention.
Over the two days of the Convention, teams will rotate through a
series of workshops, activities, and service jobs listed below.
The
TSP is a two-day commitment in which teens are expected to conduct
themselves in a courteous manner. For the benefit of the TSP as a
whole, teens that are disrespectful and/or uncooperative will be
excused from the program.
Mandatory Staff Meeting & Orientation (Friday)
Peter
Lambert, Teen Staff Director, will cover the guidelines of the
program, give an overview of the service jobs to be performed, and
impart the vision for teamwork, leadership, and a job well done.
Mandatory Staff Meeting & Feedback (Saturday)
Teen
staff will be given the opportunity to share from the previous
day’s experiences, ask questions, give feedback, and regroup.
TEEN WORKSHOPS
Teen
workshops will be presented on a rotating schedule by Phillip
Telfer with Media Talk 101.
Phillip
Telfer
Phillip is a former youth pastor and was a
speaker for two years with a national youth ministry prior to
starting Media Talk 101 in 2005. He is author of the book What
Wouldn’t Jesus Do? Media Choices in the Light of Following Christ.
He has ministered to youth and families over the last 18 years,
sharing at camps, retreats, Christian schools, and church services
around the country. Phillip also serves as co-pastor at Living
Water Fellowship in Bulverde, TX, and is a director and teacher
for Living Water School of Ministry. He and his wife Mary have
been married for seventeen years and have four children.
ACTIVITIES
If
you are looking for something a little out of the ordinary, you’ll
love our activities which will get your blood pumping and your
creative juices flowing; they will give you a chance to see things
you might never see otherwise--and from a lofty perspective if you
choose to venture up the climbing wall!
Your team will work together throughout the Convention to
get things done, and the activities will provide a fun break and
time to build camaraderie among you.
SERVICE JOBS
You
can look forward to a great time, but the Teen Staff program isn’t
just fun and games. You’ll also have a chance to learn about
leadership and responsibility first hand as you confront real
challenges and help fill essential staff roles that are vital to
the success of the Convention.
Service Job 1: Toddler
Play Area
The
entertainment skills of Toddler Play Area Workers will be honed as
they help to keep the little ones busy with the games and toys
which are provided.
Service Job 2: Exhibit
Hall Runner
The
Exhibit Hall is a busy place! Vendors need change, and speakers
need help in their booths. Exhibit Hall Runners will have to be
flexible and able to work with vendors and speakers addressing
whatever challenges may arise.
Service Job 3: Exhibit
Hall Book Check
Book
Check Staff will lend a helping hand to wearied shoppers by
storing their packages in the Exhibit Hall book check.
Service Job 4: Nametag
Check
At
the Convention, nametags are the tickets needed to enter a
workshop or the Exhibit Hall. Teams will be posted at doors to
answer questions and check nametags.
Service Job 5: Teen
Program Base Ops
During this service job, your team will help with the Teen Staff
Program. This means filling in where needed and helping to run the
activities for other teams.
