Turn your convention experience into a vacation by taking advantage of the great add-ons we have arranged for you.  You can enjoy the following and more at low prices that will be easy on your budget.  So whether you’re from Houston or just visiting, make plans to vacation with us!

Hotel Accommodations- Stay onsite for only $89 a night!
The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center is offering luxury accommodations at an economy rate just for our Convention.  Imagine the added benefit of staying in the same building as the Convention!  To make reservations call 800.262.1509 or 281.367.9797 and mention the Texas Home School Coalition State Convention to receive the group rate.  The special $89 rate is good August 10 - 14, 2005.  Reservations must be made by July 21, 2005.  (Rates are good while rooms are available.  For best results, make reservations early.)

San Jacinto Field Trip and Battle Reenactment

Your family will not want to miss this incredible opportunity!  During your field trip to the San Jacinto Monument and State Historic Park, your family will tour the Museum of History, view the film Texas Forever!, locate the spot where Santa Anna surrendered, explore the boardwalk of the Marsh Restoration project, enjoy special history and geography lesson by Master Teacher Jessica Hulcy, and, last but certainly not least, participate in a historical reenactment of the battle of San Jacinto specially orchestrated for THSC Convention attendees!  Participants are encouraged to bring picnic lunches or order box lunches.  Visit the San Jacinto State Historical Park website to read about the park. Those who pre-register for this event will receive detailed information at a later date.  Families should plan to arrive at the park by 10:00 a.m. and stay through the late afternoon.

Field trip: $8/person      

Box lunch (includes sandwich, chips, canned drink, and a cookie): $5/person

On-site Meals

Don’t worry about leaving the Convention to find good food for your family!  For lunch, you can pre-order an affordable Sandwich Meal Deal to pick up from concessions.  For dinner, the chef at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott has arranged a series of scrumptious, hot, buffet meals for your family to enjoy! Use meal times to fellowship with your family or as an opportunity to get to know other home schoolers from near and far.

Friday Lunch (Sandwich, Chips, and Drink): $6/meal                 

Friday Dinner (Salad, Mixed vegetables, Chicken Cordon Bleu, NY Cheese Cake): $13/plate

Saturday Lunch (Sandwich, Chips, and Drink): $6/meal

Discount Tickets

THSC has negotiated great deals at several of Houston’s favorite attractions.  Round out your vacation by taking advantage of discounted tickets!

Space Center Houston: Get a one day ticket (regularly $17.95 for adults and $13.95 for children) for only $8.95 per person!

Six Flags Astro World : Get a one day ticket (regularly $45.00) for only $18.99 per person!

Houston Astros Baseball: Tickets range in price from $5-$28 ($5-$7 savings off regular ticket prices)!  Choose between August 11^th game against the Washington D.C. Nationals or August 14^th game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

John P. McGovern Museum: Buy one get one free tickets available for purchase at the Convention.
