Fathers are Wonderful People
Helen Steiner Rice
Fathers are wonderful people Too little understood, And we do not sing their praises As often as we should ...
For, somehow, Father seems to be The man who pays the bills, While Mother binds up little hurts And nurses all our ills ...
And Father struggles daily To live up to "HIS IMAGE" As protector and provider And "hero of the scrimmage"...
And perhaps that is the reason We sometimes get the notion That fathers are not subject To the thing we call emotion,
But if you look inside Dad's heart, Where no one else can see, You'll find he's sentimental And as "soft" as he can be ...
But he's so busy every day In the grueling race of life, He leaves the sentimental stuff To his partner and his wife ...
But fathers are just WONDERFUL In a million different ways, And they merit loving compliments And accolade of praise.
For the only reason Dad aspires To fortune and success Is to make the family proud of him And to bring them happiness ...
And like OUR HEAVENLY FATHER, He's a guardian and a guide, Someone that we can count on To be ALWAYS ON OUR SIDE.

San Antonio CPS Workers Threaten Custodial Parent
After a couple was awarded custody of the man's son, they took him to a visit with his biological mother at the San Antonio CPS office. While they were there, a CPS worker told them they must immediately enroll the child in public school or lose custody of the child. When they appealed to the officer's supervisor, she supported the officer.
The family contacted THSC Association, and Tim Lambert wrote a letter to the San Antonio CPS office, informing them of their lack of jurisdiction in compulsory attendance laws. He enclosed the memo from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services that states that position and urged the two officials to leave the family alone or face legal action.

A Father's First Role in Leadership
Doug Sims
Fatherhood is a journey that few men would have begun if they had bothered to read the fine print at the bottom of the contract before making the commitment. The physical responsibilities are sobering, but the frightening part of fatherhood is the spiritual, moral, and emotional demands it places on a man.
Early childhood is not too bad. Mom, frankly, carries most of the load. Dad learns to change diapers and to haul baby equipment, but there are almost no intellectual requirements. The young family appears to be on autopilot, and we begin to think fatherhood is not as perplexing as we have been led to believe.
One day, a small cloud appears on the horizon of our ignorant paradise. Junior discovers the joys of redecorating the house with applesauce and toilet paper. Or maybe your sweet daughter decides to give her brother a Mohawk, or tie a belt around his ankle and drag him through the back yard.
