Last Day to Register for Leadership Training Conference

LTCgirlsToday

is the last day to register for the Leadership Training Conference, October 26-28.

THSC encourages groups to sponsor their leaders' attendance at this important weekend event.  Your organization will benefit from the ideas they will bring home!  They will join leaders from across the state for a time of inspiration and practical answers about bettering your home school group and their term in leadership.  Past, present, and potential future leaders are welcome!

Practical and Encouraging Workshops

Men's Huddle, Ladies' T.E.A. (Time of Encouragement and Appreciation), Support Group Finances, and Conflict Resolution are just a few of the workshops that will refresh leaders' vision and provide answers to practical how-to questions that they have.  Check out all the great sessions in store for attendees!

Leaders' Kids Have Lots in Common

Leaders can bring their teens along too!  They'll be inspired by workshops with Brady Collier, a fun and charismatic 27-year-old home school father of three.  Team-building games, paddle boats, and other fun activities are the order of the weekend.  To top it all off, there will be s'mores by the bonfire.

Calling All Leaders!

THSCsupport

Do you lead a support group?... a co-op?... any type of group that supports Texas home schoolers?

THSC works very hard to keep its list of support groups and leaders updated for several different reasons, not the least of which is that many of the hundreds of calls THSC fields annually include people who are looking for local support groups.  Many of the officers of the 400+ groups in Texas change every year.  If you want people to know how to get in touch with your group, it is imperative that we have your correct information!

Also, this year we are offering a FREE Handbook for Texas Home Schoolers to all leaders for whom we have current contact information.  We believe that the Handbook is a great tool for leaders, helping them have the answers to so many of the questions they get and helping them in the work they do for the home school community of Texas.

THSC just sent its October Leader Letter to all the leaders we have on our list. If you're a leader and you didn't get one, it means that we do not have a record of your leadership.  Please email us and let us know the following:

            Name

            Support group

            Office held

            Address

            City, Zip

            Email address

Please do this ASAP, and we will be glad to send your FREE book!  The Handbooks will be mailed to leaders this month.

Whether you are a leader or not, you can help us get the word out by forwarding this email to leaders in your group.  We'd really appreciate your assistance in this important endeavor!

tim&lyndsay06THSC offers several videos to help you on your home education journey. If you are just getting started, take a look at Ready, Set, ... Now What Do I Do? Tim and Lyndsay Lambert answer questions about where to get curricula, whether or not bulletin boards are necessary, how to teach several grade levels at once, and, "Is this LEGAL?!"  You can take a deep breath and relax, as they guide your first steps on this exciting adventure.

Are your children teenagers? You may be interested in hearing about an alternative to dating.  In Courtship-One Family's Perspective, Tim, Lyndsay, their son Peter and his wife Rita share their experiences and ideas about this "new" way for young people to find spouses while keeping their purity intact.

There seems to be no end to the tide or severity of violence and immorality in our nation today.  Real and threatened acts of terrorism in our public school system are exceeded only by the violence committed against our children in every other public arena.  Even home is not a safe haven for our children, as criminals are bold enough to snatch children from their beds while they sleep or from their yards while they play.
