We would also encourage every American to get on his knees to pray for this crucial election, as we agree with President Ronald Reagan:
Without God, there is no virtue, because there's no prompting of the conscience. Without God, we're mired in the material, that flat world that tells us only what our senses perceive. Without God, there is a coarsening of the society. And without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure. If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.
Ronald Reagan, August 23, 1984
We are all God's handiwork, and it is
appropriate for us as individuals and as a
nation to call on Him in prayer.
Ronald Reagan, January 29, 1985

The New Pioneers
In an effort to revitalize a dying kibbutz in Israel, a developer invited a new breed of pioneers to take up residence. Their relaxed lifestyles, "green" mindset, and insistence on homeschooling is making the old guard uneasy. This article explores both sides of the issue, asking whether or not the two groups can ever learn to live together.

Patrick Henry College Scholarship 2009
In keeping with its mission to serve the home schoolers of Texas, Texas Home School Coalition has established a scholarship fund for Texas home school graduates who attend Patrick Henry College their freshman year. The amount of the scholarship depends largely on the amount of money THSC has in the fund and how many students are awarded THSC PHC scholarships in a given year.In the past, scholarships have ranged from $1000-$3000.
The recipients of these scholarships will be notified mid-March and recognized at the THSC Annual Awards Banquet, to be held in Austin next spring. The deadline for submission of an application is Friday, February 6, 2009 (postmark date).

A Merry Heart Doeth Good
Last week, our nine-year-old son, True, was reading aloud the "Toddler Bible" to his four-year-old brother, Ever, as they sat together in their bedroom. My wife Belinda walked by the boys' room and overheard True's Scripture reading and Gospel presentation to Ever. A while later, Belinda overheard the boys in another room. Ever was seated on the piano bench, talking loudly. He was so moved by God's Word and True's evangelism that his little head bowed and his tiny hands clasped together as he prayed fervently, "Dear Jesus, please take away my fins!" Belinda and I checked and are pleased to report, Ever is finless!

Andrews ISD Requires Unnecessary Forms
An Andrews ISD assistant principal required an Association member to fill out "appropriate forms" after she had withdrawn her son by certified letter. The mother responded with a letter of assurance to which the assistant principal responded by threatening her with prosecution. Tim Lambert wrote the principal of Andrews ISD and cited the TEA regulations regarding the withdrawal of students to homeschool. He also enclosed the latest letter from the Texas commissioner of education. Read the letter.... | |

Are Our Children Prepared to Stand Before Kings?
The place: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
The event: The Republican National Convention
The year: 2000
George Walker Bush had just received the nomination to run as the Republican Party's candidate for President of the United States. In celebration, thousands of balloons poured down from the nets that had held them, covering the floor sometimes up to several feet deep. Some of the delegates climbed on their chairs to keep from being covered entirely by the red, white, and blue orbs.
Mr. Bush waved and smiled at the cheering people, turning slowly from side to side, scanning the crowd. As he faced the Texas delegation, he stopped, apparently recognizing someone in the crowd; a delegate standing on his chair took off his cowboy hat and with it saluted the man that would soon become the country's commander-in-chief. Mr. Bush raised his hand and returned the salute of this familiar person.
