Remember Our Veterans
My shoulders ache beneath my pack (Lie easier, Cross, upon His back).
I march with feet that burn and smart (Tread, Holy Feet, upon my heart).
Men shout at me who may not speak (They scourged Thy back and smote Thy cheek).
I may not lift a hand to clear My eyes of salty drops that sear.
(Then shall my fickle soul forget
Thy Agony of Bloody Sweat?)
My rifle hand is stiff and numb (From Thy pierced palm red rivers come).
Lord, Thou didst suffer more for me Than all the hosts of land and sea.
So let me render back again This millionth of Thy gift. Amen.

We Have a Winner!
Congratulations to the winner of the November 2008 THSC REVIEW "Who Said This?" contest, Deeann Powell of Arlington. She chose for her prize When Homeschooling Gets Tough by Diana Johnson. Deeann correctly answered the question, "Who Said This?" The quote was Try not to become a man of success but rather to become a man of value. "Albert Einstein" was the correct answer, and Deeann's was the first guess received on November 1.
We appreciate the readers of the THSC REVIEW who sent their guesses and hope that the REVIEW is a blessing. Be watching for the next quotation question - you could be the next winner! Don't miss out!

La Quinta Inn Harasses Ike Victims
Employees at the La Quinta Inn in Cedar Hill threatened to turn in a home schooling family, who were fleeing Hurricane Ike, if the children were not enrolled in public school. The mother, an Association member, contacted THSC, and Tim Lambert wrote to a manager at the hotel. He explained the state's requirements for parents who homeschool and informed the manager of a home schooler's exemption from public school attendance laws. He warned the manager and her staff to stop harassing the family.

Building a Biblical Worldview
My passion is to teach and encourage parents to build their lives and their children's lives upon the biblical worldview. It started back in 1972 when my wife and I were working with Campus Crusade for Christ at a university campus. We realized that most students were ill prepared and inadequately equipped to give a solid, biblical explanation for the faith that they had in Jesus Christ. Whether the student was in a sociology class, a biology class, or a geology class, he was being challenged in his Christian faith.
In the 1960s and '70s, Francis Schaeffer asked this one, penetrating question, "How should we then live?" Dr. Schaeffer's answer was that we should be living according to a biblical worldview, a foundation that is laid upon Christ.
I believe that question still resounds today in the twenty-first century. How should we then live? Are we going to embrace the biblical or the non-biblical view? Today what we see happening in some segments of Christianity is the fusion and synchronization of the two. We must carefully guard against that. Read the article.... |
