Do You See What I See?
by Pat Harrell

If I take time to view my kids’ lives from their perspective, I’ll be able to lead their heart.

I am trying to see the world from my kids’ perspective, especially with my teen daughter Halley. When “helping” her with math, for example, I see a simple algebraic equation solving for X. • Make Plans To Attend 2007 THSC Capitol Days!
  • texascapitol

In the last several legislative sessions, Texas home schoolers have made their presence and their opinions known to the legislature through our Capitol Days. THSC Association is now planning Capitol Days in Austin for the year 2007.

During each morning session, THSC representatives, legislators, and legislative staff members educate attendees about the legislative process and train them to lobby. Each month there will be different speakers and topics, depending on the current issues of concern for Texas home educators. In the afternoons, students, parents, and chaperones will head to the Capitol to meet and lobby legislators and then reconvene for debriefing (sharing and feedback) sessions.

Don’t miss these opportunities for great political science field trips as you also work toward meeting the Good Citizenship requirement. Click on the graphic to get more information about next year’s Capitol Days.

  • THSC Association Benefit: Legal Assistance

THSC Association is pleased to have a part of protecting the right of parents to homeschool their children without government interference. Thus, the reason for this important benefit of membership: legal assistance. Wonder why we offer such assistance in Texas, a state with some of the best home school laws in the country? Click on the graphic to find out.

The Association’s full-time staff gives prompt and vigorous attention to the needs of member families when they have been contacted by local government officials challenging their right to home school. These experienced staff members intervene with government officials by phone, in writing, and/or with legal counsel to end the confrontation and confirm the right of the parents to teach their children at home.

THSC Association is an advocacy organization {under IRS code section 501(c)(4)}, not an insurer.
