  • Living American Flag

The United States has set aside June 14th of each year as Flag Day. We would like to provide ideas for celebration of this holiday, which sometimes passes without much fanfare. The U.S. flag is a symbol of our nation and one for which many brave young Americans have been willing to risk all.

  • To Train Up a Child

This book by Mike and Debbie Pearl has a wealth of information and simple yet profound insight packed into a small space. Do you have a problem with child discipline in your home? Do your children "tune you out," or throw fits when asked to do simple chores? Do you train your children, or do you react to their disobedience? This resource will give answers you need to have a quiet and peaceful home. • Read All About It

The Weatherford DemocraT.com featured a story on June 2, 2006, by Jimmy Ivey, about a home school basketball player and her college scholarship. The young athlete competed in the Texas Home Educators Sports Association and was noticed by college coaches at the Association’s games. Read excerpts of the account below:

    Latham signs with Cedarville University

“Stephanie Latham, a product from the newly formed Texas Home Educators Sports Association (THESA), became the first athlete from the association to sign a national letter of intent to play collegiate basketball as she signed to compete for Cedarville University Thursday afternoon.”

  • eBay Policy on Teachers' Manuals
  • eBay has adopted a policy disallowing the sale of teachers’ manuals (teacher editions) for curriculum. While the purpose of this policy is to prevent those who might use such manuals to cheat on tests of curricula, it is reminiscent of curriculum providers in the early 1980s, who refused to sell curriculum to home school families because they were not viewed as private schools. If you wish to make your opinion on this known to eBay and seek a change in their policy, go to the website (link below) that allows people to sign their name to a petition that says the eBay policy prohibiting the sale of Teachers' Manuals needs to be changed.
