THSC Sponsors Successful CLE Seminar in Dallas Area

CLE

This past week, the Texas Home School Coalition sponsored its fourth Continuing Legal Education seminar to train family-friendly lawyers to defend families again CPS.  About two dozen attorneys from around the state were present to hear Tim Lambert speak on the legal aspects of home schooling and how in recent years anonymous allegations against such families have raised concerns. They also received training from attorneys Paul Stuckle and Chris Branson, experienced legal experts in this area, as they explained how to deal with CPS and aggressively defend innocent families.

CLEseminar08THSC now has a list of almost 100 attorneys who have been trained to defend families that have been falsely accused by CPS.  These attorneys each received 4.0 MCLE credits.  Response to this training from those in attendance has been very positive, and this most recent seminar was filmed for future distribution, dependent upon approval by the Texas State Bar for the training via correspondence.

This training is a critical component of our efforts to protect parental rights. THSC has plans to continue sponsoring two to three of these seminars around the state each year, the next one planned for November in Austin.

Home Schoolers Group Together to Form Knifty Knitters Knitting Club

Five home schooled girls from the Beaumont area have formed a knitting club: The Knifty Knitters Knitting Club. One of the girls learned to knit and then taught the other four. The girls decided to make projects that they could pass on to those in the community who needed something warm and fuzzy. They are currently working on a blanket that will likely be donated to a nursing home resident. Their last project was baby booties, which they donated to a local organization, Hope Center.

We Have a Winner!

ReviewCover5-08Congratulations to the winner of the May 2008 THSC REVIEW "Who Said This?" contest! Natalie Clark of Lantana correctly guessed that Thomas Jefferson said, "A politician looks forward only to the next election. A statesman looks forward to the next generation."

She has claimed the book Why America Is Free, by Kenneth E. Hamburger, as her prize.

We appreciate the readers of the THSC REVIEW who sent their guesses! We hope that the REVIEW is a blessing and that you will be watching for the next quotation question. You could be the next winner!

Don't miss out!

Well, don't despair! Tim has started a blog and has several entries concerning the events and happenings at the convention. All you political junkies can go and get your fix now, at least from his point of view!

The ability to participate with other home schoolers in activities such as field trips is one of the great benefits of joining a local support group, right?

Everything will run smoothly.

The participants will behave as model citizens that parents of public school students will wish their children would emulate.

The folks who allowed this group to tour their facility will comment on the fact that none of the other groups that have toured the place behaved as courteously and respectfully as your group.

No parent will ask to be the exception to the announced sign-up deadline, and each parent will make certain that her children will be attentive so they will benefit from this enriching experience!

The field trip participants will be of one accord and will enthusiastically plan the next outing. The moms will take turns planning and scheduling the next event ... They will be of one accord.

If this doesn't sound like your experience, read on....
