article, which follows:
Texas’ Independence and Texas Home
Schoolers
by Tim Lambert
On March 2nd [2003] we celebrated the 167th
anniversary of Texas’ independence. It was on that
date in 1836 that sixty delegates at
Washington-on-the-Brazos signed the Texas
Declaration of
Independence. That document was drafted overnight
by a committee of five at the Convention of 1836
because the Alamo had already been under siege for
nine days.

| Home Schooling in the News: Military Families |
| |
It is a constant battle. Always on the move, military
families struggle to find consistent and valuable
education for their children. Many are discovering
home schooling is the answer. Kate Tsubata, a
home-schooling mother of three, writes about the
problem and a viable solution in her article, posted
April 10, 2006, at washingtontimes.com.
“Stability despite many moves
“Military families face a unique set of challenges in
educating their children -- being sent all over the
globe to schools where the curriculum varies greatly
and trying to foster stability throughout all these
changes.
”Julie Gannon's experience with her eldest child,
Michael, is an example. Michael entered kindergarten
in California but finished it in Rhode Island. He did
first grade in Virginia and second grade in Okinawa,
Japan, in 1995 at a Department of Defense school.”
