The newly updated 2007-2008 Handbook for Texas Home Schoolers will be hot off the press and available in time for the THSC State Convention & Family Conference, August 16-18. With a brand new look, up-to-date articles, and the most current legal information, you won't want to miss getting your copy!
THSC Association is having a pre-print sale on bulk orders of this new book for a limited time only. The Handbook normally retails for $18, with bulk prices of $12/item for 5+ books and $10 each for 10 or more Handbooks. The pre-print sale price is a rollback to the bulk price of several years ago; if you order 10+ handbooks by August 17, 2007, you can purchase them for $8/book. In order to participate in this sale, payment must be made when the order is placed. In addition, orders of case quantities (approximately 48 books/case) will not be charged shipping and handling fees.
Now is the time to stock up on these informative books. Many support groups take advantage of this annual sale to purchase these in bulk, as they are great resources to put into the hands of people just starting or looking into home schooling. They will answer over 95% of the questions that these people will ask!

Home School Graduate Heads to West Point
Durham is outdoorsman, musician, and now serviceman Adventure after Adventure
BY TRACY SIMMONS AVALANCHE-JOURNAL
"Grant Durham, a recent Lubbock home-school graduate, will begin his enrollment at West Point Military Academy this month.
"'It's a great time to be serving your country," he said. "To me, it's like I'm going to the military so someone else doesn't have to.'
"He said he's always liked the military, and after a weeklong camp at West Point a year ago, knew it's where he belonged.
"'I'm a little nervous,' he said, 'but I'm ready to get on with it.'"

Clean Up and Clear Out!
Ah, the beginning of a new school year! New books, new schedule, fresh enthusiasm, new resolve, and clean closets! Clean closets? Is that a requirement? Well, not exactly a requirement, but the best advice I received when, years ago, we began to homeschool was the advice that a friend laughingly gave in reply to my question, "Where do we start?" She humorously said, "I don't know for sure, but I think we should clean our closets!"
