Educating through Experience
Home schooling parents have a unique opportunity:
they can personally mold their children’s curriculum
into more than just academics by creating lessons

Conference speaker, Sally Clarkson, discusses things
to consider as you plan to meet your students’ needs
and make learning fun.
“Planning on Purpose”
by Sally Clarkson
For over ten years, Clay and I talked about taking
our children on a historical tour of America. We
wanted to see our country’s historical markers and
relics first-hand in order to give our children (and
us!) a real live view of history. Unfortunately
deadlines, responsibilities, and commitments filled up
the years, never leaving us a good time when we
could all set off together to explore.

| Home Schooling in the News: A Global Outreach |
| |
An article appearing on July 26, 2006, at
WDCMedia.com tells of the advantages of home
schooling for missionaries in the field. Excerpts from
the article, which focuses on Korea, follow:
“American Home Schoolers to the Rescue in
South Korea’s Churches
Family Mission International (FMI) was
founded just
one year ago in June 2005. But the mission behind it
began years ago when FMI founder Brad Voeller
was just eight years old, serving with his
missionary family in the Philippines. [Brad is also the
founder of Global Learning Strategies, which is
part
of the growing group of organizations offering
discounts to THSC Association members.] Since that
time, Voeller -- who has a passion for foreign
missions and for families -- has served in various
Asian locations. To minister to families all over the
world, he founded Family Mission International.
According to its website, FMI ‘is engaged in mobilizing
and equipping churches and families to share the
message of biblical family, family discipleship, and
home education worldwide.’ What better way to
reach families than through families? FMI decided to
send home-schooling families to countries around the
world. Step one is South Korea.”
