A Message to Texas Home Schoolers

JacksonFamily2The following is a note THSC received from one of the heroines of the home school movement after the premiere showing of THSC's new documentary Taking a Stand in Texas: The Battle for Home School Freedom.

I want to thank you all so much for the honor of having me to be among such fine people as yourselves. It brought such great joy to my heart to see the families with their children and the now grown home educated children. You stand out and sparkle like bright jewels among rubbish.

Having been graced by your presence, I conclude I would go through the struggle all over again for the joy of seeing the results. I pray that God is enabling graduates of Home Education to take a stand now, as God has especially equipped you. As independent thinkers, equipped with the wisdom of a Christian World view, I encourage you to go forth to defend and protect what is good and great about our nation. Tear down the icons of naturalism and evolution, of anti-Christian, anti-family and anti-American agendas.  Make a difference in this world, change it in any small way you can, for Christ. Just as Queen Esther of the Bible, with the king's favor and the enemies having been exposed, was handed the signet ring and given the authority to re-write the laws that would destroy God's people, so you have been handed this right also. Use it. God bless you.

    Helen Jackson

Mrs. Jackson made a surprise appearance at the June premiere of the documentary in Dallas.  Her part in the historic Leeper v. Arlington case, which defined home school law in Texas, is suspenseful and triumphant.  Dr. Raymond Moore wrote an article about her and her amazing story in February 2001.

Dads, I hope you have had a blast with your family this summer and that you are refreshed and excited about the fall. If your house is like mine, I imagine you are gearing up for another fruitful home school year. Your wife is thumbing through textbooks and preparing lesson plans, with hope and righteous ambition for your children. Perhaps, like me, you are eager to help out, but your plans do not progress quite like you want them to. In the midst of your dilemma, may I suggest that you should not worry too much about your school year plans, but rather, you should pray about your plans and see what the Lord gives you?
