“Teacher Workshop Day”

The day will come. It is inevitable. It often happens in about January, or, if things go well, it might be as late as March or April; but it will come. It is the day when, in spite of all your efforts, EVERYTHING goes wrong.

  • Celebrate Constitution Day!
  • constitution_flag

On September 17, 1787, the 55 delegates to the Constitutional Convention held their final meeting. Only one item of business occupied the agenda that day: to sign the Constitution of the United States of America. (Visit the National Archives online to view and/or download “Charters of Freedom” documents.)

September 17, 2006, is the tenth annual observation of Constitution Day, and you can access online a free download of a video presentation to use in your observation of the day, joining with other Americans. There are also historical facts about the formation and growth of our nation.

Some parents can never imagine that once they begin educating their children at home they will continue until their students graduate—but it happens regularly! In this article by reporter Rob Rogers which was posted at redding.com on August 27, 2006, read about how one family started their home schooling adventure and have sent their oldest child to college, with more students soon to follow.

“Education is a family affair for the Atzets

"BIG BEND -- When pressed to explain why she chose to home-school her children, Rosanne Atzet replies with a story.

"About 15 years ago, she and her husband, David, were living near Banning, in the rural deserts of Southern California. Her oldest daughter, Jensine, was getting ready for kindergarten. The family lived miles from the nearest elementary school, which meant the 5-year-old would have to ride the bus."

The best testimonies come from those who were there for the experience. Home school student Ginny Davis explains the many valuable results of her education in a commentary that appeared August 27th in the Lansing State Journal.

“Home-school kids have leg up on peers

"As a home-schooled student who has reaped the many benefits of home schooling for the last 11 years, I highly recommend that more parents consider home schooling."

  • THSC’s Tim Lambert to Speak on Good Citizenship Requirement
  • Texascapitol

Tim Lambert will speak this week on "Fulfilling the Good Citizenship Requirement" and a Christian’s responsibility to be involved.

How do you incorporate good citizenship into your school? Tim will address maintaining priorities and a balance between academics and activism while involving the whole family in teaching government and politics at all levels. Tim believes that involvement is vital to maintaining parents' rights to direct the education and upbringing of their children and encourages families to take a synergistic approach to teaching their children about government in the classroom while participating in practical ways.

He will address the importance of being involved in the upcoming elections and THSC’s Capitol Days.
