Many home schoolers remember the days when
people looked puzzled when they were told of families
who were teaching their children at home without
benefit of the educational experts. Read

By Leah G. Driggers

and stated, “Well, um, we are going to homeschool
them.”
“Home what?”
“Homeschool them. We are going to teach them at

This seminar is approved for continuing legal
education credit by the State Bar of Texas.
THSC president Tim Lambert, Family Rights

who are determined to educate their six children

R family are evangelical Christians who believe that
public schools are a bad moral influence on children.
Father R has a university degree in teaching, so he
thought he could teach his five daughters and one

| Commentary From a Home School Student’s Point of View |
| |
Home school student Kyle Beck is a 15-year-old
contributing writer for the Fauquier Times-
Democrat. His commentary, that begins below,
was posted at TimesCommunity.com on
September 5, 2006. Read excerpts from his
entertaining piece:
“First Day of (Home) School
“Ahh, the first day of school, the buses roll by and
the smell of pancakes fills the air. "Wait a minute!
The buses are rolling by? Oh no!"
“No worries for me, I'm homeschooled. Yep, that's
right, homeschooled. But before you put this down
and run far, far away, screaming for your life, just
hear me out. That's better.”
