Home School
Football
Brenham, Texas, October 28, 2005– On a
clear Texas night, with cows and trains in the background, two
teams prepared for the ultimate face-off. While there were no
marching bands or cheerleaders—just moms on the sidelines
chanting their positive yells and siblings playing on the
sidelines—the teams were ready for battle. However, this was not
like other games.
Colleges Welcome Texas Homeschoolers
While Texas homeschools often field
inquiries from public school officials, social service workers,
law enforcement officials, and employers who question their
legitimacy, graduates are finding most colleges and universities
eagerly accept them, and some are actively recruiting them. |

Teaching Through Tough
Times
Tim
Lambert, president of the Texas Home School Coalition, today
announced that home school families from other states who have
been displaced by Hurricane Katrina to Texas are free to teach
their children rather than place them in a public school.
"These families have all been through terrible times, and they
need to be given every opportunity to put their lives back
together and recover emotionally, physically and economically.
The last thing they need to be worrying about is whether or not
they can continue to teach their children themselves." Mr. Lambert
said. |

he won't know how to act at college this fall, that maybe he's
been too sheltered that now he'll just cut loose and go crazy. |

Teen filmmaker forges ahead with project
Never work with children or animals,
according to Hollywood's unwritten rules. Someone forgot to
mention that edict to 18-year-old Julie Dugger. But with a
week of filming under her belt – much of it spent corralling a
roomful of hyper preteens – the amateur moviemaker shrugs off such
dire warnings about being upstaged by adorable, unruly types. |
