Mark Foley and the Hypocrites
MarkFoley

It is beyond easy -- it is mandatory -- to denounce Congressman Mark Foley for his sexually charged electronic mail and Internet messages to teenage males who worked as pages in the House of Representatives. He was right to resign. I hope he's prosecuted.

It is also beyond easy to recognize how the Democrats have decided to make national political hay out of this ugly sex scandal -- as far as we know, a sex talk scandal. On Monday morning, the network news shows were predicting excitedly that this could be a killer issue for Democrats.

Gene Seaman will always stand up for the principles that are important to the Coastal Bend. His priorities are lowering property taxes so families can keep more of what they earn, defending our private property rights, cutting wasteful spending and making state government more accountable and efficient, protecting life and promoting pro-family policies, and providing unmatched constituent service for District 32.

  • Candidate Profile - Bill Keffer
  • Bill Keffer

Bill Keffer's political philosophy is built on the fundamental premise that government rarely does anything as well as the private sector. It is the critical role of the legislature to be ever vigilant to prevent such an unhealthy dependence on government and, instead, to strive to create an environment where individual success and wealth can be realized.

Homeschoolers in Dallas' District 107 also have a great opportunity for Good Citizenship credit. Contact the campaign for times for block walking, phone calling, and other activities in which you and your family can participate.

  • Perry2

The greatest threat Texans face today is the porous 1,200 mile Texas-Mexico border. It is viewed as a prime point of entry by terrorist organizations, criminal gangs, and drug traffickers. Despite this growing threat, Washington has failed to devote the necessary resources to secure our border and protect our communities.

  • Stepping Up Attacks, Bush Calls Democrats 'Softer' on Terrorists
  • PresidentBush

President Bush ratcheted up his campaign offensive against Democrats on Tuesday with perhaps his bluntest rhetoric yet as he accused them of being "softer" on terrorists and willing to allow attacks on Americans rather than interrogate or spy on the nation's enemies.

ABC13’s Ted Oberg breaks down campaign ad

As the election nears, we’ve been taking a look at the TV ads gubernatorial candidates are running to get your vote. Candidate for governor Carole Keeton Strayhorn is criticizing Governor Rick Perry’s tax cut plan with a truth test of her own. It’s the most pointed political ad we’ve seen yet.

In the decades I have spent in Washington "fighting the good fight," I don't think I have ever seen politics sink to this cesspool level. It is becoming clearer by the day that a cadre of leftwing "hit men" and "slash and burn" organizations intend to destroy the Republican Party, the pro- family movement and anyone who stands in their way of getting power this November. The Foley scandal was round one.

  • Tincy Miller too Conservative for DMN Endorsement
  • TincyMiller

In its recommendations for election to the State Board of Education, District 12, the Dallas Morning News yesterday elected to pass over incumbent Geraldine “Tincy” Miller in favor of endorsing - nobody. Miller, boardmember since 1984, has been lurching too far to the right for the newspaper’s editorial taste. “She’s backed textbooks that downplay issues like global warming and has used her position to question the rights of AIDS patients and the use of condoms,” opines the News.

  • AG Opinion a Victory for Elected Board of Education
  • There seems to be some confusion in the media about whether [the recent] Attorney General’s opinion on textbook content and patriotism is a victory or a defeat for the elected State Board of Education.

The rape of a nine year old girl; a soccer coach indicted on five charges of indecency with a child; a mother who sits idly by while her lover beat, imprisoned and starved her child to death. It seems that you can't open a newspaper or turn on a television without learning of a child who has been physically, sexually or emotionally victimized.

As Lt. Governor, I believe there is no greater responsibility of an elected official than to protect those who are vulnerable in our society. We must do everything we can to ensure our children are protected from predators that would cause them harm.
