Evans Novak Political Report
Fred Thompson is very likely to enter the
race for President, with a possible
announcement coming as early as next week.
Thompson's announcement that he is in
remission from lymphoma is a trial balloon --
the reaction could determine his decision.
This particular kind of lymphoma is much less
harmful than others and should not shorten
his life expectancy.

College Top-10 Percent Rule Could
Change Some students who want to
attend Texas' most elite public universities
could get an admissions break if lawmakers
approve measures modifying the state's top-10
percent rule.
Perry Backs 'Religious Expression'
Legislation Surrounded by several
parents and children, Gov. Rick Perry on
Tuesday endorsed legislation that, he said,
would guarantee youngsters the freedom to
express their religious beliefs at school.
SB 896 Is, in Fact, About Much More Than
TXU & Utilities Once again, and
as we're usually proud of here in the Great
State of Texas, "As goes Texas, so goes the
nation" ... and the nation is looking to Texas
on the crucial issue of whether or not
governments can retroactively meddle in the
day-to-day operations of the Texas economy.
Senators Pan Tuition

public universities Tuesday for hiking
tuition year after year - and themselves for
letting it happen.

Overhaul A sweeping bill to reform

committee Wednesday, but it might face

facilities.
Senate 'Cells' Out Despite a
series of announcements over the last two
weeks indicating that adult stem cells have
shown promise in treating diseases from Type
1 diabetes to heart damage, a majority of

Gingrich and Thompson: The Men Who
Aren't There These lines, by poet
Edna St. Vincent Millay, might as well have
been dedicated to Messrs. Giuliani, McCain,
Romney, Huckabee, Brownback, Tommy Thompson,
Hunter, Tancredo and Gilmore: When I was
coming down the stair I met a man who
wasn't there He wasn't there again
today I do wish he'd go away
Survey: Excitement Abounds for Those NOT
in the Presidential Race In an
overnight survey of GOPUSA's Grassroots
Survey Team, it is clear that frustration
with Washington continues to carry over from
the November elections. In addition, those
"candidates" currently at the top of the
presidential poll, are not even running for
president ... at least not yet.
Mr. Right, Mr. Wrong In this
spring of conservative discontent concerning
the leading GOP presidential prospects, the
potential candidacy of Newt Gingrich-he ranks
third in GOP polls-offers the most intense
quandary yet. From a Christian conservative
perspective, he says all the right things.
He's very smart-but is he presidential?

Religious Extremism by
Gary Bauer Paul Krugman is a
well-known columnist for the New York Times
who woke up this morning very worried about
religious extremists. He devoted his whole
column to it this morning. I understand his
concern.
