Shocking Example Of Leftwing
"Tolerance"
The Left constantly tries to portray itself as the guardian
of tolerance and liberty, while defining conservatives and Christians as
"bitter, mean-spirited, bigoted extremists." Nothing could be further from
the truth. Recent studies have found that conservatives and Christians are
far more generous when it comes to donating money, giving blood or
volunteering their time. Christian conservatives are not the ones pushing
for the passage of so-called "hate crimes" laws that threaten to criminalize
certain thoughts or speech, nor are they trying to censor the airwaves with
the "Fairness Doctrine" in order to shutdown political or religious speech
they oppose.
Ironically, such initiatives are being promoted by liberal Democrats and the
"tolerance crowd" on the political left with the intent of silencing
differing points of view. Whether it's the venom of Hollywood elites like
Rosie O'Donnell or Bill Maher, the condescension of political liberals like
Barack Obama or the "in your face" tactics of militant activists, the anger
and bitterness of the Left is nothing new. Men and women of faith who have
been involved in the right to life movement or in various efforts to defend
the sanctity of traditional marriage have no doubt experienced it. But the
intensity of the Left's rage is growing, and it is reaching disturbing
levels.
Yesterday, Michelle Malkin posted an eight minute, profanity-laced rant from
an individual threatening to kill George W. Bush. For its sheer hatred and
glorification of death, it could have easily passed for one of the
"martyrdom videos" from a Palestinian or Al Qaeda jihadist. But what makes
the video all the more shocking is that the speaker is an African-American
child, probably no more than 10 years old.
The radical leftwing group MoveOn.org gained notoriety in the 2004 elections
for posting videos comparing George Bush to Adolph Hitler. While the
comparisons were inappropriate and outrageous, at least those were adults
who constrained themselves to making offensive political statements. Believe
it or not, at the end of his unbelievable tirade, this child says he wants
to get George Bush out of the White House so Barack Obama can get in.
Where does a child learn this sort of hatred? Perhaps from the sermons of
Reverend Jeremiah Wright, who has preached wild conspiracy theories and
thundered from the pulpit, "God D*** America." What kind of home produces
such anger and resentment? I suspect one utterly devoid of compassion and
tolerance.
Speaking Of Conspiracy Nuts…
Barack Obama picked up a key pre-primary endorsement yesterday from a real
"heavyweight" of the radical Left – Michael Moore. Moore exhorted fellow
liberals in Pennsylvania to support Obama in order to atone for the "sins"
of our Founding Fathers. Here's how he closed his endorsement message:
"Pennsylvania, the state that gave birth to this great country, has a chance
to set things right. It has not had a moment to shine like this since 1787
when our Constitution was written there. In that Constitution, they wrote
that a black man or woman was only 'three-fifths' human. On Tuesday, the
good people of Pennsylvania have a chance for redemption."
The good news is that Moore evidently thinks this is a great country. The
bad news is that he grossly insulted the "good people of Pennsylvania" and
millions of other Americans coast-to-coast. And just like Barack Obama, I'm
sure he never realized it. Before Michael Moore opens his mouth again, I
suggest he take a tour of the battlefield at Gettysburg and reflect for a
moment on what the "good people of Pennsylvania" and other states did there
to "make things right."
But history aside, Moore is telling voters to forget about the issues;
forget about experience or qualifications. It's all about race, identity
politics and the cult of personality. (At one point in his message, Moore
even admits, "My endorsement is more for Obama the Movement than it is for
Obama the candidate.") I have a long memory. A few years ago, Michael Moore
compared the jihadists blowing up our servicemen and women in Iraq to the
"Minutemen" patriots of the American Revolution and promised they would win.
Barack Obama should renounce his endorsement.
Third Annual Washington-Israel Summit
If you're concerned about the rise of anti-Semitism in America, if you're
tired of Jimmy Carter's foreign policy freelancing, here's a great
opportunity to show your support for Israel and make your voice heard. Come
to our nation's capital this summer and join me for the third annual
Christians United for Israel Washington summit. This year's summit promises
to be an outstanding event with an all-star lineup of speakers, including
Frank Gaffney, Pastor John Hagee, Bill Kristol, Senator Joseph Lieberman,
Clifford May, Rep. Mike Pence, Daniel Pipes, Dr. Walid Phares, former
Senator Rick Santorum and Walid Shoebat. I will be speaking at four
different sessions during the summit.
In addition to briefings and panel discussions, one day of the summit will
be devoted to personal meetings with members of Congress on Capitol Hill,
giving you the opportunity to educate your elected representatives about the
importance of America's alliance with Israel. The timing of CUFI's first
Washington summit proved to be prophetic – just as Hezbollah launched its
war against Israel in 2006, thousands of pro-Israeli Christians poured into
Washington, D.C., to encourage our leaders and policy makers to stand firm.
With tensions rising in the Middle East, thanks to Jimmy Carter sending
mixed messages about America's resolve while Iran's Holocaust-denying
dictator is seeking to develop nuclear weapons, it is more important than
ever for American Christians to stand united in support of Israel.
For more information or to register online, please visit CUFI's website
today at
