Redistributing Your Wealth
As you know, schemes to "share the wealth" are
nothing new. From the old Soviet Empire to Hugo Chavez's Venezuela, modern
France to the People's Republic of China, wealth redistribution schemes always
leave the people oppressed. Which, Mr. Obama, is good for no one.
Closer to home, look at the heavily redistributionist left coast, which all the
lefties want Texas to become, in terms of tax policy. Yet California, with its
myriad of taxes (income, sales, property, business, and on and on) is bordering
on insolvency, people are abandoning their homes, jobs are evaporating. All
because of the nightmarish reality of redistributionist dreams.
And yet in Texas we're weathering the economic downturn fairly well... So far.
That's why we need to
demand that lawmakers do more to restrain government spending.
While Barack Obama is scheming to find new ways to reach into your wallet,
Texans can rejoice that one avenue into our pocketbooks has been closed.
Thanks to your efforts through EmpowerTexans.com, the
Legislature closed down the "Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund" (TIF) tax
effective last month. This represents the kind of honest fiscal stewardship we
expect of our elected officials in Texas, and Gov. Rick Perry, Lt. Gov. David
Dewhurst and House Speaker Tom Craddick led the way.
