Homeschoolers like being free. In fact, there is probably nothing that homeschoolers agree on more than the desire for families to be able to raise their children how they see best.
However, many families don’t realize how easy it is to lose that freedom.
So what keeps us free? The answer is actually extremely simple: you do. The involvement of every family in the political process is what keeps us free.
When homeschoolers stop being active in the process, those who oppose homeschooling will get to make the laws we live under.
We wrote recently about how liberal-leaning unions and advocacy groups in Texas are openly targeting homeschool candidates to defeat in the 2018 elections.
You also may have read about the terrible case of abuse in California from a family who was supposedly homeschooling. This has led some individuals to openly call for regulation of all homeschoolers, despite clear studies that abuse is actually far less common among homeschool families than traditional public school families.
If homeschoolers don’t take charge and defend elected officials who value freedom for Texas families, Texas can easily end up like New York, where homeschooling is heavily regulated by the state.
That’s why we need you.
Homeschool-friendly candidates are under heavy fire this election cycle, and there is a coordinated effort to defeat them.
Homeschoolers won our freedom 24 years ago at the Texas Supreme Court. If we plan to keep it, we have to do it from the voting booth.
Will you help?
Homeschool Voter Turnout Needed in 2018
We need every homeschool family in Texas to:
- Be sure to vote during early voting from Feb. 20-Mar. 2. You can also vote on election day, Mar. 6.
- Find a homeschool-friendly candidate in your area and volunteer to help the campaign, even if it’s just a few hours a week. This can be an easy and fun field trip for the whole family. Bring your kids! Contact the THSC public policy department by phone or email to find a candidate in your area of the state that you can help: firstname.lastname@example.org or 469-759-0375.
Don’t let those who oppose homeschooling decide how your family should be run!
We believe that parents should be empowered to raise the next generation of leaders. Help defend homeschool-friendly candidates, and we will keep our freedom in Texas the same way we won it in 1994—by working together.
Contact THSC now to find a candidate near you who needs your help!
